Luke Fowler produces experimental films that eschew linear narrative and other hallmarks of documentary filmmaking in favour of a collaged aesthetic.
'Pilgrimage between scattered points'. (2006) takes an ambivalent position towards it's subject. "The film tries to engage in a conversation with the audience," Fowler says. "It is for people who are prepared to enter a deeper relationship with the film and it's subject."
His film 'The nine monads of David Bell (2006)' delves into the psyche of David Bell includes re-enchantments of dreams, as well as audio and imagery, that conjure psychological states.
"My multi-room 16mm film installations explore the historical complexities of location sound and film, questioning if it is possible to create a meaningful dialogue between looking and listening. MY past work has often explored the limits of documentary filmmaking combining new and archival footage, interviews and photography . Paying close attention to sound and it's vocal significance.
